Da Vinci Museum

First Thanks for the indian info.
This week we went to the Da Vinci experience in Orem. We are going to be studying famous painters all month. The kids thought it was great fun. I learned a lot too.
He was a brilliant person. He was a leader in about every field at the time he was alive. He made some drawings of human anatomy and internal organs that were the best of his time. He studied science and loved nature. But some of the machines he designed for war were truly amazing. He
designed several defense instruments as well as some amazing attack machines. He even made designs for a tank. He designed several early flying machines including the design for early helicopters. It was COOL. They had many of his inventions built and the kids could operate them. They had a lot of fun. We went to see the paintings, but there were not a lot of them that was the only disappointment.
Along these lines our challenge of the week is to

CHOOSE A PAINTER AND TELL US WHY YOU LIKE THEM

I put a link on the page to a web gallery if you need a quick way to find one. Hope to hear from you soon.

Renoir is my favorite Painter. He painted pictures of people in real life situations. My Favorite Painting is In the meadow or reading. It has 2 girls sitting on the edge of a meadow gazing at it and talking. You can almost guess what is happening in the book. I find his works to be relaxing. They often cause me to think about similar situations in my life. he lived in the late 1800’s early 1900’s. He was an impressionist Painter in his early years though he painted mostly portraits in his later years. He suffered from rheumatism which eventually confined him to a wheel chair. A famous quote by Renoir, “ why shouldn’t art be pretty?” and “There are enough unpleasant things in the world.”

Paul's favorite painting was done by an artist named Franz Marc. He chose 2 paintings they were Tiger
1912; Stadtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich and Foxes 1913; Kunst museum, Dusseldorf. He is an Abstract painter but Paul is an abstract child so they match.

Anthony's favorite artist is Van Gogh. He liked Stary Night. As a cute side story. Anthony is a sensitive child as some of you know. Anyway we were studying 6 different artists. When we studied Van gogh and talked about how he went crazy and eventually took his life he burst into tears and was followed by the whole class. I didn't know studying art would be so emotional. I think that might have something to do why he chose Van Gogh though. In the future I may try to avoid how people die though but it is a part of life so I don't know.

My favorite painter is MonetHe was born in France in 1840. He died in 1926. He was an impressionist painter. I like his paintings because they make me feel calm and peaceful. I like water lillies. He did lots of water lilly paintings. I like the one from 1916 it is mostly blue. I also like The walk Lady with parasol. It is mostly yellow. It is a picture of his wife. They had 2 sons. Some of his paintings sell now for 70 million dollars.
P.S. Your kids have seen lion king they know about life and death

The Atrtist that I liked was
Sisley, Alfred (b. Oct. 30, 1839, Paris, Fr.--d. Jan. 29, 1899, Moret-sur-Loing), painter who was one of the creators of French Impressionism.
His paintings are of places and not so much people.
I honestly didnt have a favorite artist before this. I looked on the website you gave and I picked the pictures I liked best.

Degas, (Hilaire-Germain-) Edgar was my favorite--especially the painting of Miss Lala--don't know why--maybe it's because it is a painting of something real--something I could be doing--and I like to see the ordinary made beautiful :]
