I told that story to tell you about my new just for fun project. While I was looking up how to make laundry soap I found info on making your own bar soap. This is not a real money saver but it is kind of fun. Though I guess if you consider the price of a quality bar of soap and the cost of making a bar of homemade soap it could be considered a money saver too. Nate made me some soap molds and we have made a lot of soap. The two bars in the picture are our 2 favorites. One is Cedar Honey Oatmeal and the other is raspberry vanilla.
We decided to give out bars of soap for Christmas this year so we went to the lavender farms in Nephi to check out their oils. It is a really pretty place with gorgeous gardens. I'd recommend a stop there for anyone. We did get some oils but we won't be regular shoppers. They are great oils if you are using them for medicinal purposes or for message but much too expensive for soap making. I picked out the scent I wanted and got to the register and it was $40 for 1/2 an oz. (no wonder they don't post prices by the oils.) Nate's on the other hand was $10 so I guess we just need to be careful which ones we choose.
