Adoption

Well we officially adopted our Meg (Margaret Alice Henrie) named for our grandmas. It was an amazing day. We were lucky to have some family there and were able to get some pictures taken. I'm so thankful for the support we got from our families while we went through everything we did to get her. She was worth all the trials we went through to bring us to this point. We are going too change around our temple date to accommodate some issues but are still excited to have it be complete. I'll let you guys know when.

We also have been lucky enough to have a new foster daughter. Miss E is a sweet girl who loves hugs and attention. It has been an interesting challenge as this is our first older foster child. She comes with all the issues that you can expect in foster care. We have been pushed to the edge of giving up a few times but haven't been able to do it. I can see so much potential if we can just get past the testing phase. She seems to be challenging us to love her anyway even if she does... But no matter how much we are dealing with she is dealing with so much more and dealing with it better than I would be able too. I have to say that getting a child whether a baby or older child wears you out. The lack of sleep and need for constant care and adjustment comes no matter how old they are. Although she will not be returning home they are working with family so we are unsure of how long she will be with us.
Our other kids seem to be taking it in stride though. The boys get a little annoyed because she likes to follow people around and they are to old to have a five year old girl shadow. We ended up getting them a lock for their door to give them a little privacy. Bri has the same frustration but handles it a little better. Brook and Meg have the biggest adjustment because they are around all day and Miss E seems to struggle with younger children. I think we've worked out a system to help them all feel OK though. I'm hoping given some more time and with the two 5 year olds starting school next year it will resolve. So I just have to hold out through the summer. They all adore her and her hugs. She loves to play house which is Brooks favorite game. She is very physically active and loves outdoors which Paul likes. She loves to be read to which Bri and Anthony could do all day. She is super obedient which helps a lot. She loves preschool and we have been working hard to help her be more ready for school.
I'm sure this all way more info than you guys want or need but it's been good to let it all out. We love her a lot all ready. I pray often that it will go the way that is best for her. She may not be able to handle any more challenges. Only Heavenly Father knows what will be best and since I can't do anything about it I'm just going to leave it in his hands.

Your expression of compassion & concern for her well-being & needs (despite the challenges she brings to the table for you) says volumes. I hope things continue to improve. Love you guys! ~ Joye
